Instructions
Cut the beef into thin, long strips, about 1/4 inch thick and 2 inches long.
Grind the roasted peanuts into a fine powder using a food processor or blender.
In a bowl, mix the ground peanuts with ginger, paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and bouillon powder to make the suya spice mix.
Coat the beef strips thoroughly with the suya spice mix, ensuring each piece is well covered.
Thread the seasoned beef strips onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.
Brush the skewered meat lightly with vegetable oil to prevent sticking and enhance grilling.
Grill the suya on medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
Serve hot with sliced onions, tomatoes, and extra suya spice on the side.
Chef's Tips
- Meat Choice: For best results, use beef with some fat marbling for juicier suya.
- Marinating: Let the meat marinate in the spice mix for at least 1 hour for deeper flavor.
- Grilling: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before threading to prevent burning.
- Spice Level: Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the heat level.
- Alternative Cooking: Suya can also be cooked in a grill pan or under a broiler if an outdoor grill is unavailable.
