Instructions
1
Add the warm water, honey, olive oil, and salt to the bread machine pan.
2
In a separate bowl, mix the whole wheat flour and wheat gluten. Add this mixture to the bread machine pan.
3
Make a small well in the center of the flour and add the yeast.
4
Place the pan in the bread machine and select the Whole Wheat cycle. Start the machine.
5
Check the dough after 5-10 minutes of kneading. If it looks too dry, add a tablespoon of water. If too sticky, add a tablespoon of flour.
6
Once the cycle is complete, remove the loaf from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Chef's Tips
- Fresh Yeast: Ensure your yeast is fresh for the best rise. Test it by dissolving in warm water with a pinch of sugar—if it foams, it's active.
- Flour Adjustment: Whole wheat flour absorbs more liquid. Adjust water or flour as needed during kneading.
- Cooling: Let the bread cool completely before slicing to prevent it from becoming gummy.
- Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
- Customization: Add seeds or nuts to the dough for extra texture and nutrition.
