Instructions

1

In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, celery, red onion, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

2

Season the tuna mixture with salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust the seasoning if needed.

3

Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.

4

Butter one side of each bread slice. Place two slices, buttered side down, on the skillet.

5

Spread a generous amount of the tuna mixture on each slice of bread in the skillet. Top each with two slices of cheddar cheese.

6

Place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered side up. Press down gently with a spatula.

7

Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

8

Remove from the skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.

Chef's Tips

  • Fresh Ingredients: Use fresh celery and red onion for the best texture and flavor.
  • Cheese Options: Try using Swiss or pepper jack cheese for a different flavor profile.
  • Extra Crunch: Add a handful of chopped pickles or relish to the tuna mixture for extra crunch.
  • Toasting Tip: For extra crispiness, toast the bread lightly before assembling the sandwich.
  • Serving Suggestion: Serve with a side of pickles, chips, or a simple green salad.
