Instructions
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Place one tortilla in the skillet and sprinkle half of the shredded cheese evenly over it.
If using, add any optional ingredients like onions, bell peppers, or cooked chicken on top of the cheese.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the toppings, then place the second tortilla on top.
Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom tortilla is golden brown and crispy.
Carefully flip the quesadilla using a spatula and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until golden and the cheese is melted.
Remove from the skillet, let it cool for a minute, then slice into wedges and serve with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.
Chef's Tips
- Cheese Choices: Use a mix of cheeses like cheddar and Monterey Jack for better flavor and meltability.
- Crispy Tortilla: For extra crispiness, lightly butter the outside of the tortillas before cooking.
- Low Heat: Cook on medium-low heat to ensure the cheese melts without burning the tortilla.
- Add-ins: Experiment with fillings like sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or black beans for variety.
- Storage: Leftover quesadillas can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated in a skillet for best texture.
