Prepare the patties: In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties.
Cook the patties: Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. Add cheese slices during the last minute of cooking.
Toast the buns: Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
Prepare the toppings: Slice the tomato and onion, and wash the lettuce leaves.
Assemble the burgers: Spread mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard on the bottom bun. Add the cooked patty with cheese, followed by lettuce, tomato, and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
Serve immediately: Enjoy your burgers while they are hot and juicy.
Chef's Tips
- Juicy Patties: Avoid overmixing the beef to keep the patties tender.
- Cheese Options: Try different cheeses like Swiss, pepper jack, or blue cheese for variety.
- Custom Toppings: Add pickles, bacon, or avocado for extra flavor.
- Bun Choices: Brioche, sesame, or whole wheat buns work great for burgers.
- Resting Time: Let the patties rest for a couple of minutes after cooking to retain juices.
