Instructions
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Spread tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and dried oregano.
Tear the mozzarella into small pieces and distribute evenly over the sauce. Drizzle with olive oil.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Remove from the oven and immediately top with fresh basil leaves. Let cool for 2 minutes before slicing and serving.
Chef's Tips
- Dough Tip: For best results, let the dough rest at room temperature for 30 minutes before rolling out.
- Cheese Tip: Use fresh mozzarella for authentic flavor and texture. Drain excess liquid before using.
- Crispy Crust: For extra crispiness, pre-bake the crust for 2-3 minutes before adding toppings.
- Oven Hack: If you don't have a pizza stone, bake directly on the oven rack for a crispier bottom.
- Customization: Add toppings like mushrooms, pepperoni, or olives for variation.
- Fresh Basil: Add basil after baking to preserve its fresh flavor and vibrant color.
