Instructions
Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Remove the cores using an apple corer or a sharp knife.
Slice the apples into very thin rounds, about 1/8-inch thick, using a sharp knife or a mandoline slicer for even thickness.
Optional: Sprinkle the apple slices lightly with cinnamon and sugar for extra flavor, if desired.
Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3 minutes.
Arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap. You may need to cook in batches.
Air fry for 8-10 minutes, then flip the slices and cook for another 8-10 minutes until crispy and golden brown.
Remove the apple chips from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack. They will crisp up further as they cool.
Chef's Tips
- Apple Selection: Use firm apples like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith for the best texture.
- Uniform Slices: For even cooking, ensure all apple slices are of the same thickness.
- No Overcrowding: Avoid overlapping slices to ensure they crisp up properly.
- Storage: Store cooled apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- Variations: Experiment with different spices like nutmeg or pumpkin spice for a unique flavor.
