Nutrition Facts
Instructions
Prepare the fruit: Wash and hull the strawberries. Cut them into smaller pieces for easier blending.
Blend the fruit: Place the strawberries, honey (if using), and lemon juice in a blender. Blend until smooth.
Strain the mixture (optional): For a smoother texture, strain the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove seeds.
Prepare the baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Pour the fruit puree onto the sheet and spread it evenly into a thin layer.
Dehydrate the fruit: Place the baking sheet in an oven set to the lowest temperature (around 170°F or 75°C). Let it dehydrate for 3-4 hours, or until the fruit leather is no longer sticky.
Cool and cut: Once done, let the fruit leather cool completely. Peel it off the parchment paper and cut into strips or roll it up for storage.
Chef's Tips
- Fruit Variations: Use any fruit like apples, mangoes, or mixed berries for different flavors.
- Sweetness Adjustment: Adjust the amount of honey or maple syrup based on the natural sweetness of the fruit.
- Storage: Store the fruit leather in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
- Thickness: Ensure the puree is spread evenly and thinly for consistent drying.
- No Oven Option: Use a food dehydrator if available for more even drying.
