Instructions
Measure out the Chex cereal into a large mixing bowl and set aside.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth.
Stir vanilla extract into the melted chocolate mixture until well combined.
Pour the chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal. Gently fold with a spatula until all pieces are evenly coated.
Place powdered sugar in a large resealable plastic bag or container with a lid. Add the coated cereal in batches, seal, and shake until fully covered with powdered sugar.
Spread the Puppy Chow on wax paper to cool and set for about 30 minutes before serving.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
Chef's Tips
- Cereal Choice: Rice Chex works best, but you can use Corn or Wheat Chex for variation.
- Melting Tip: Be careful not to overheat the chocolate mixture to prevent seizing.
- Coating Trick: For extra coverage, sift additional powdered sugar over the finished Puppy Chow.
- Add-ins: Mix in mini marshmallows, pretzels, or M&Ms for extra texture and flavor.
- Gifting Idea: Package in cute bags or jars for a homemade gift.
