Instructions
Prepare the green beans: Wash and trim the ends of the green beans. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
Blanch the green beans: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 2-3 minutes until bright green. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
Sauté the garlic: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Cook the green beans: Add the blanched green beans to the skillet. Season with salt and black pepper. Toss well to coat the beans in the garlic butter.
Finish cooking: Sauté the green beans for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender but still crisp. If using, add lemon juice and toss to combine.
Garnish and serve: Transfer the green beans to a serving dish. Sprinkle with sliced almonds if desired. Serve immediately.
Chef's Tips
- Blanching Tip: Blanching the green beans before sautéing helps retain their vibrant color and crisp texture.
- Garlic Tip: Be careful not to burn the garlic, as it can turn bitter. Sauté just until fragrant.
- Variation: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet.
- Nut-Free Option: Skip the almonds or substitute with toasted breadcrumbs for crunch.
