Instructions
Prepare the marinade: In a bowl, mix grated ginger, minced garlic, turmeric, honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, black pepper, and salt.
Marinate the salmon: Coat the salmon fillets evenly with the marinade. Let them sit for at least 10 minutes (or up to 30 minutes for deeper flavor).
Heat the pan: Place a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
Cook the salmon: Once the oil is hot, place the salmon fillets skin-side down (if skin is on). Sear for 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy.
Flip and finish: Gently flip the salmon and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
Garnish and serve: Transfer to a plate, drizzle with remaining marinade (optional), and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve immediately.
Chef's Tips
- Freshness check: Ensure the salmon smells fresh and has firm flesh before cooking.
- Skin crispiness: Pat the salmon skin dry before cooking for extra crispiness.
- Marinade boost: Add a pinch of chili flakes for a spicy kick.
- Alternative cooking: This salmon can also be baked at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes.
- Serving suggestion: Pair with steamed rice or a fresh green salad.
