Instructions

1

In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, celery, red onion, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.

2

Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.

3

Spread the tuna mixture evenly on two slices of bread. Top each with two slices of cheddar cheese, then cover with the remaining bread slices.

4

Butter the outside of each sandwich lightly on both sides.

5

Place the sandwiches on the preheated skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

6

Remove from the skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.

Chef's Tips

  • Cheese Options: Try using Swiss, provolone, or pepper jack cheese for a different flavor.
  • Extra Crunch: Add a handful of crushed potato chips to the tuna mixture for extra texture.
  • Spice It Up: Mix in a dash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
  • Healthy Twist: Use Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise for a lighter version.
  • Bread Choice: For extra crispiness, use thick-cut bread or toast the bread lightly before assembling the sandwich.
