Instructions
Marinate the beef: In a bowl, mix the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Set aside.
Heat the pan: Heat vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat until shimmering.
Cook the beef: Add the marinated beef to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
Stir-fry vegetables: In the same pan, add garlic and ginger, stir for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add bell pepper, broccoli, and carrot. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until crisp-tender.
Combine and thicken: Return the beef to the pan. Pour in the cornstarch slurry and stir well to coat everything. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with sliced green onions and serve hot over rice or noodles.
Chef's Tips
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
- Prep all ingredients before starting to cook, as stir-frying is fast-paced.
- For extra heat, add a teaspoon of chili paste or red pepper flakes.
- Substitute vegetables with whatever you have on hand, like snap peas or mushrooms.
- Use a high smoke point oil like peanut or canola for best results.
