Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into 1-inch cubes. Try to keep the pieces uniform for even cooking.
In a large bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper.
Add the sweet potato cubes to the bowl and toss until they are evenly coated with the maple glaze.
Spread the sweet potatoes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Avoid overcrowding to ensure they roast properly.
Roast in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the sweet potatoes are tender and caramelized.
Optional: Sprinkle chopped pecans over the sweet potatoes during the last 5 minutes of roasting for added crunch.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
Chef's Tips
- Uniform Cubes: Cutting the sweet potatoes into even-sized cubes ensures they cook at the same rate.
- Maple Syrup: Use pure maple syrup for the best flavor. Avoid pancake syrup, which contains additives.
- Spice Variations: Add a pinch of ground ginger or cloves for extra warmth and depth of flavor.
- Roasting Tip: Stirring halfway through roasting helps the sweet potatoes caramelize evenly.
- Make Ahead: You can prep the sweet potatoes and glaze ahead of time, then roast just before serving.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
