Instructions
Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
Combine wet ingredients: Add melted butter and egg to the yeast mixture. Stir well.
Make the dough: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the rolls: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each into a smooth ball.
Second rise: Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Serve: Brush the warm rolls with melted butter and serve immediately.
Chef's Tips
- Yeast Check: Ensure your yeast is fresh. If it doesn’t froth, it may be expired.
- Warm Milk: The milk should be warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
- Soft Rolls: For extra soft rolls, cover them with a towel right after baking.
- Storage: Store leftover rolls in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Freezing: Freeze unbaked rolls for later use. Thaw and let rise before baking.
