Instructions

1

Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain for tenderness. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch. Add the beef slices and marinate for 10 minutes.

2

Blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain and rinse under cold water to retain crispness.

3

Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.

4

In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed. Stir-fry the minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.

5

Add the blanched broccoli and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer.

6

Return the beef to the pan, mix well, and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle red pepper flakes if desired. Serve hot over rice.

Chef's Tips

  • Slice the beef thinly and against the grain for the most tender texture.
  • Blanching the broccoli ensures it stays crisp and vibrant green.
  • For extra flavor, add a splash of rice wine or sherry to the sauce.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer less saltiness.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds or sliced green onions for presentation.
