Instructions
Chop the dark chocolate into small, even pieces to ensure it melts smoothly.
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium-low heat until it begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.
Remove the saucepan from heat and add the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes to soften.
Stir the chocolate and cream mixture gently until smooth and fully combined.
Add the butter, vanilla extract, and honey or sugar (if using). Stir until the butter is melted and the mixture is glossy.
Transfer the chocolate fondue to a fondue pot or a serving bowl. Keep warm over a low flame or tea light if using a fondue pot.
Arrange the assorted dippers on a platter and serve immediately with the warm chocolate fondue.
Chef's Tips
- Chocolate Choice: Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
- Consistency: If the fondue is too thick, add a little more cream. If too thin, add more chocolate.
- Dippers: Experiment with different dippers like pound cake, cookies, or dried fruit.
- Storage: Leftover fondue can be stored in the fridge and reheated gently.
- Alcohol Option: For an adult version, add a splash of liqueur like Grand Marnier or Baileys.
