Instructions
Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar. Dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Add yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
Shape the dough: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Add toppings: Spread tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and add your favorite toppings.
Bake the pizza: Slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Serve: Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve hot.
Chef's Tips
- Dough Tip: For extra flavor, let the dough rise slowly in the fridge overnight.
- Cheese Tip: Use fresh mozzarella for a creamier texture.
- Crispy Crust: Preheat your baking sheet or stone for a crispier crust.
- Toppings: Don’t overload the pizza with toppings to prevent a soggy crust.
- Leftovers: Reheat leftover pizza in a skillet over medium heat for a crispy crust.
