Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mix the shredded cheddar cheese with paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper if using.
Place small mounds (about 1 tablespoon each) of the cheese mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Flatten each mound slightly with the back of a spoon to form thin, even circles.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes to firm up. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Chef's Tips
- Cheese Selection: Use a good-quality cheese that melts well, like cheddar, Parmesan, or a blend.
- Uniform Size: Keep the cheese mounds uniform in size to ensure even cooking.
- Watch Closely: Cheese crisps can go from golden to burnt quickly, so keep an eye on them during the last few minutes of baking.
- Add-Ins: Experiment with adding chopped herbs, jalapeños, or bacon bits for extra flavor.
- Storage: Store in an airtight container with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.
