Instructions
Prepare the mango: Peel and dice the ripe mango into small pieces. Ensure the mango is sweet and ripe for the best flavor.
Blend the ingredients: In a blender, add the diced mango, yogurt, cold water, sugar, and cardamom powder.
Blend until smooth: Blend the mixture on high speed until it becomes smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more water.
Taste and adjust: Taste the lassi and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if needed. Blend again briefly to mix.
Chill (optional): For a colder drink, add a few ice cubes to the blender and pulse until crushed, or refrigerate the lassi for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Serve: Pour the lassi into glasses, garnish with a sprinkle of cardamom powder or mint leaves, and serve immediately.
Chef's Tips
- Mango Selection: Use ripe, sweet mangoes like Alphonso or Kent for the best flavor. Frozen mango can also be used if fresh is not available.
- Yogurt Tip: Use thick, plain yogurt for a creamier texture. Greek yogurt works well too.
- Sweetness: Adjust sugar according to the sweetness of the mango. Honey can be used as a natural alternative.
- Variations: Try adding a pinch of saffron for a richer flavor or rose water for a floral twist.
- Serving Suggestion: Serve in a tall glass with a straw for an authentic experience.
