- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1-2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
- Pinch of salt

Prepare the apples: Peel, core, and roughly chop the apples into chunks.
Cook the apples: In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped apples, water, and lemon juice. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Simmer: Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are very soft.
Season: Stir in the cinnamon, honey or maple syrup (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
Blend: For smooth applesauce, use a potato masher or immersion blender to puree the mixture. For chunky applesauce, leave some pieces intact.
Cool and serve: Let the applesauce cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or chilled.
